Who Qualifies: Unlawful Criminal Convictions, DNA Test Sometimes Wrong.

The Arizona Justice Project helps Arizona inmates with unlawful criminal convictions along with those who have found that DNA testing is necessary for post-conviction relief or who have found that a DNA test is sometimes wrong. Please examine the list below to find out if you may qualify for assistance.

  1. You are an indigent Arizona inmate serving on an Arizona conviction with claims of:
    • Actual innocence or
    • Manifest injustice
      • The Justice Project is unique in that it is not limited to the review of cases where biological evidence is involved. The Justice Project will review other cases where it is clear that an Arizona inmate has been subject to an unlawful criminal conviction.
  2. You are not currently represented by an attorney
  3. You are unable to obtain an attorney
  4. You experienced that a DNA test is sometimes wrong.
    • The State of Arizona enacted A.R.S. § 13-4240 that allows for postconviction DNA analysis in cases in which a reasonable probability exists that the petitioner would not have been prosecuted or convicted if exculpatory results had been obtained through DNA testing.
